Virtual numbers

Virtual Numbers for OTP Verification

Choose a country and an app, get a number, and read the SMS code in your dashboard. No SIM card and no contract.

What is a virtual number?

A virtual number is a real phone number that lives online instead of on a SIM card. Text messages sent to it appear in your OtpGet dashboard or in the API response. You use it exactly like a normal mobile number when an app or website asks you to verify a phone number.

Most people use one to keep a personal number private, to test sign-up flows, to verify an account while travelling, or to separate work and personal accounts.

How it works

  1. Create a free OtpGet account and add a small balance.
  2. Open the page or app where the verification is asked and keep it ready.
  3. Pick the app and the country on OtpGet and order a number.
  4. Enter the number in international format and request the code.
  5. Copy the code from your dashboard before it expires, or cancel the order if nothing arrives.

See the full walk-through on how it works.

Which number type should you pick?

  • One-time number: for a single sign-up code. It is the cheapest option and ends after the order.
  • Rental number: for accounts that may ask for more codes later. See rental numbers.
  • Your own SIM: for banking, payments and anything tied to your identity. Virtual numbers are not suitable for those.

Good to know before you order

  • Apps decide which numbers they accept. No provider can promise that every app will accept every number, so start with a small test order.
  • If a code does not arrive, cancel within the allowed window to get your balance back. The exact rule is on the refund policy page.
  • Use virtual numbers lawfully and follow the terms of every service you verify. Do not use them for fraud, spam or ban evasion.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a SIM card?

No. The number receives messages online, so you only need a browser or the API.

Can I use a virtual number for every app?

No. Some apps block or limit certain number ranges. Test with a small balance first and try another country if one is rejected.

What happens if no code arrives?

Cancel the order within the allowed window and the amount returns to your wallet. Read the refund policy for the exact rule.

Is it suitable for banking apps?

No. Banks and payment apps need a number registered to you. Use your own SIM for those.

Start with a small balance

Registration is free. Test one order, check that your app accepts the number, then top up only what you need.
